Interviewing

As a naturally curious person, I have had a recording device and note pad about my person since I was a child, always seeking out interesting stories from other humans.

I have worked as a journalist; reporter; radio and television presenter; and documentary producer over the years. Throughout my career I have interviewed thousands of people on screen, over radio and for print publications in person and remotely.

The key to crafting a powerful story in an interview based format is active listening. A great interviewer listens to both to what is said, and what is not said, and responds in a considered fashion. Yes, we dig, but it is important not to impose on the guest. Having empathy for the human you are engaging in conversation with is critical.

Every person has a story to share, and I am passionate about the discovery of each unique experience and privileged to be in the honoured position of hearing each individual’s perspective.
